The link to the second office is a separate 100 Mb link it will soon be upgraded to 1 Gb, and we expect that the 311B cluster will be able to handle the traffic. We also provide internet-based services to our clients using our 100 Mb internet service. We use a pair of 311B units for a location with about 30 local users and supporting traffic to and from a nearby office of 25 users (those users mostly use servers located at our main office, so the traffic between offices is substantial). Would you want to have a pair of units operating as a cluster in order to have protection against one failing? In that case, they will also share much of the load, allowing you to use two smaller devices rather than one larger one. Two important and related questions on the sizing are:ĭo you provide any internet-facing services from this office? Thanks in advance to all who contribute! Maybe Fortinet themselves will pick this up and give us some advice.

* Ability to handle Internet traffic or direct it through corporate office over VPN tunnel. * Some remote sites have their Internet routing through the corporate office (about half) * Compatible with WatchGuard IPSEC end-points at the remote sites (we will be upgrading these as we go but cannot afford to replace everything at once - we will purchase one remote site appliance initially though) * Failover to alternate ISP if our primary circuit goes down I need help sizing for my environment for a central firewall appliance and remote firewall appliances. Based on responses I have seen in the community in other threads and my own social network it seems a lot of people like Fortinet.
